Ascend uses an application called Okta to set up your Ascend AP account. You must activate your Ascend AP account through Okta. Once done, you can log in to either the Ascend AP Sandbox (test) Environment or the Ascend AP Production Environment.

Activate My Ascend AP Account
If your organization does not use Single Sign On (SSO), you will receive a Welcome email inviting you to activate your Ascend AP account through Okta. The activation link expires in 7 days.
Once you receive the Welcome email:
- Click Activate Ascend AP Account. This will open a new window.
- Enter in a password.
- Enter your security question and answer.
- Click Create My Account.
This will bring you to the Okta home page below. This is not your Ascend AP account, so you can close this page. You won't need to access this page again.
Once you close this page, follow the steps below for first-time login.
Log in to Ascend AP for the First Time
Make sure that you have completed the steps to activate your account through Okta before trying to log in.
If your organization has not completed Ascend AP onboarding, log in to Ascend AP through the Ascend AP Sandbox Environment. If your organization has completed onboarding, you can log in to the Ascend AP Production Environment. Check with your Ascend AP account admin if you aren’t sure where to log in.
- Go to either the Ascend AP Sandbox Environment or the Ascend AP Production Environment.
- Set up multi-factor authentication. Choose Okta Verify, Google Authenticator, or Email Authentication. If you choose Okta Verify or Google Authenticator, you must download the application on your smartphone.
You can set up more than one multi-factor authentication method when you activate your account.
Okta Verify
1. Choose your device and download the app on your smartphone. Use either the iPhone link or Android link.
2. Click Next. This will show you a unique QR code. Do not close the page with the QR code.
3. Use your smartphone to open the Okta app and select the option to add an account. You may also use the + plus sign in the top right corner.
4. Choose Organization as your account type.
5. Select Yes, Ready to Scan, and scan the QR code you have open on your web browser. This will add your account to the Okta app.
6. On the confirmation page, click Done.
You can now log in to your Ascend AP account using your web browser. Make sure to look for push notifications on your smartphone to verify your secure login.
Google Authenticator
1. Choose your device and download Google Authenticator app on your smartphone. Use either the iPhone link or the Android link.
3. Once downloaded, click Next. This will show you a unique QR code. Do not close the page with the QR code or click Next again until you have finished step 5.
3. Use your smartphone to open the Google Authenticator app and select Get Started.
4. Select Scan a QR Code.
5. Scan the QR code that you opened on your web browser during step 3. This will show a secure access code on your smartphone.
6. Click Next on your web browser and enter the secure access code shown in your Google Authenticator app.
7. Click Verify.
8. Click Finish. This will automatically log you in.
Email Authentication
1. Click Send me the code.
2. Go to your email inbox and find the verification email titled Confirm your email address.
3. Enter the verification code.
4. Click Verify.
5. If you don't want to set up any other authentication methods, click Finish. This will automatically log you in.
Reset Multi-Factor Authentication
Anyone who has user admin permissions can reset another account's multi-factor authentication selections. To reset another user's multi-factor authentication choice:
1. From the left sidebar, select Users > Manage Users.
2. Find the user on your team whose multi-factor authentication needs to be reset.
3. Click the Reset Multi-Factor Authentication icon .
4. Select Yes, Reset MFA.
The user will receive an email confirming that their multi-factor authentication has been reset. When they log in to Ascend AP, they will need to set up a new form of authentication.
